Pune: Kalepadal Police Arrest Undri Hit-and-Run Accused Within 10 Hours
Pune: The Kalepadal Police arrested a hit-and-run suspect within 10 hours after a morning walker was fatally injured in Undri, Pune.
On April 1, 2025, between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM, an unidentified vehicle struck Sujitkumar Baswantprasad Singh (49), a resident of Vidyaniketan, Undri, near Nyati Ebony Society in Undri. The driver fled the scene without stopping. Upon receiving an alert, Kalepadal Police rushed Singh to Sassoon Hospital, where he was declared dead.

A case was registered at Kalepadal Police Station under IPC Sections 106, 281, 105, and the Motor Vehicles Act Sections 184, 119/177, and 134(a).
A special investigation team analyzed CCTV footage and identified a grey Tata Nexon. Using RTO records, police traced the owner and found the carās number as MH 12 XH 5434. Further investigation revealed that the accused had removed the number plates and hidden the vehicle in a secluded area in Autadewadi, Pune.
The accused, Sameer Ganesh Kad, a resident of Kadnagar, Undri, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized. The case is under further investigation by Police Sub-Inspector Anil Nimbalkar.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, ACP Dnyaneshwar Godse, and Senior Inspector Mansingh Patil, along with officers Amar Kalange, API Amit Shete, Shahid Shaikh, Atul Pandharkar, and others, who played a crucial role in solving the case.
