Motorcyclist Injured by Stray Golf Ball in Pune; FIR Filed Against Poona Club Golf Course
In an unusual incident near the Poona Club Golf Course in Pune, a motorcyclist sustained injuries after being hit by a stray golf ball, prompting police to register a case against the club’s administration and an unidentified person.
The incident occurred around 5:10 AM on March 29, near the flyover between Gunjan Talkies Chowk and Yerawada Jail Road. Sandeep Bhatkar was riding a two-wheeler with his friend, 35-year-old Pranil Anil Kusale, as the pillion rider when the golf ball allegedly struck him.
Following the incident, Kusale filed a complaint at the Yerawada police station. Based on this, an FIR was lodged on April 1 under Sections 125 and 228 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the Poona Club Golf Course management and an unidentified individual.
Responding to the allegations, Poona Club Golf Course captain Ikram Khan refuted the possibility of such an occurrence. “The course is designed by experts with comprehensive safety measures, including high nets and strict protocols to prevent golf balls from leaving the premises,” he stated.
Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke confirmed the registration of the FIR and said that an investigation is underway to verify the details and establish accountability in the matter.
