Pune: Kondhwa Police Arrests Builder For Illegal Construction
The Kondhwa Police have arrested a local builder, Navnath Mahadev Mane, for carrying out unauthorized construction activities in various parts of Pune without any permission from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The areas include Maliknagar, Saibaba Nagar, Bhaghyodaya Nagar, Mithanagar, and Shivnerinagar.
Despite multiple cases already registered against Mane by the PMC, he allegedly resumed illegal construction work, prompting another complaint from PMC engineer Amol Punde. Based on this complaint, an FIR was filed at Kondhwa Police Station under Sections 43 and 52 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966.
Mane had applied for anticipatory bail at the District and Sessions Court, Pune, but the plea was rejected. During further investigation, it was revealed that he demolished a building in Saibaba Nagar without taking any safety precautions for local residents. Additionally, multiple complaints surfaced against him for selling the same flat to several buyers and using threats when failing to hand over possession within the promised timeframe.
As a result, more serious charges under Sections 125, 351, and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code 2023) were added to the case. Following technical surveillance, Mane was tracked down and arrested from his residence in Khadak Police Station limits on April 2, 2025.
He was presented before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigation is being conducted by API Mayur Vairagkar of Kondhwa Police Station.
