In a major development following the controversial death of Tanisha Bhise, a pregnant woman in Pune, Dr. Sushrut Ghaisas has resigned from his position at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. His resignation comes amid mounting public anger and protests surrounding the case.

Tanisha Bhise, who was reportedly in critical condition, was allegedly asked to deposit ₹10 lakh for treatment at the hospital. Her family claimed that the delay in providing immediate medical care resulted in her being transferred to another hospital, where she later died after delivering twins.

The case sparked widespread outrage, with citizens and political leaders staging protests outside the hospital. Shiv Sena MLA Ravindra Dhangekar demanded strict action, including the cancellation of Dr. Ghaisas’s medical license and revocation of the hospital’s land lease.

In response to the backlash, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital clarified that Bhise was not denied admission but was referred to Sassoon General Hospital due to financial limitations. The hospital has since announced the removal of its deposit requirement for emergency cases.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an official inquiry into the matter. While Dr. Ghaisas’s resignation is seen as a step toward accountability, public demand for justice and transparency continues to grow.

As the investigation progresses, questions remain about the responsibility of private healthcare institutions in providing timely treatment, especially in emergency situations.
