Pune: MNGL Announces Hike In CNG, PNG Rates, Applicable From April 9
City Gas Distribution (CGD) company Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) has marginally revised the retail price of CNG from Rs. 89.0/- per Kg to Rs. 89.75/- per Kg in the Pune city including Pimpri-Chinchwad and adjoining areas of Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi with effect from midnight of 8th /9th April’2025.
Similarly, Domestic PNG price has marginally been revised from Rs. 49.90/- per SCM to Rs. 50.65/- per SCM w.e.f. midnight of 8th /9th April’2025 in the above areas.
This revision has become necessary and has been exercised as there has been increase in input cost of Domestic gas from $6.50 per mmbtu to $6.75/mmbtu (by around 4%) and increase in trade margins charged by Oil Marketing companies by 5% with effect from 1st April 2025.
However, MNGL has taken a measured approach to ensure minimal impact on its valued customers. To maintain a balance between operational viability and customer affordability, MNGL has decided to partially pass on the increased costs. This adjustment underscores MNGL’s dedication to safeguarding customer interests while ensuring seamless gas supply.
The delivered price of CNG in Pune will see a nominal increase of Rs. 0.75/- per kg, inclusive of excise Duty and state VAT, which together account for just less than 1% in the retail selling price.
Even with this marginal hike, CNG remains the most economical and environmentally friendly fuel option. In Pune, CNG continues to offer attractive savings of around 45% compared to Petrol and over 20% compared to Diesel in passenger car segment and over 20% in Autorickshaws, reaffirming its position as the preferred choice for vehicle owners looking for value and sustainability.
With increase of Rs. 0.75/- per scm inclusive of taxes, Domestic PNG will see a nominal increase of around 1.5% in selling price.
The above-mentioned marginal revision of Rs. 0.75/- per unit in CNG and D-PNG selling prices are applicable across all geographical areas authorized to MNGL.
