Pune | April 8, 2025:  The Property Tax and Assessment Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a notice to the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation regarding outstanding property tax dues amounting to Rs 27.38 crore for the property located at S. No. 8+13/2, Erandwane, Pune.

According to official records, the property tax registered under the Foundation has accumulated arrears up to the financial year 2024–2025.

The Foundation had earlier challenged the property tax assessment for the year 2016–17, following which a case was filed against the PMC. As per the Bombay High Court’s ruling in Appeal No. 894/2017 and Writ Petition No. 684/2017, the court ordered the Foundation to pay 50% of the general tax and the full amount of all other taxes.

In line with this court directive, the total outstanding dues from 2014 to 2025 have been calculated at Rs 22.06 crore, aside from the full outstanding of Rs 27.38 crore.

During a meeting held on April 7, 2025, the PMC Commissioner issued verbal instructions to initiate attachment proceedings on the said property, in accordance with Rule 42 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act’s taxation regulations, due to non-payment of dues despite the court orders.

The PMC is now preparing to take further action against the property, which houses Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, under the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation.
