What was meant to be a routine flight turned into a frustrating ordeal for over 100 passengers on board IndiGo flight 6E-118 from Lucknow to Pune on Tuesday night. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 9:25 PM, experienced a technical issue during taxiing and had to return to the bay—leaving passengers stuck inside the aircraft for nearly three hours without being allowed to deboard.

One flyer recounted that the flight had started taxiing towards the runway on time but halted after just a few minutes. “Initially, everyone stayed quiet, but after about 30 minutes, people began asking questions,” he said.

Another passenger said they became aware that something was wrong when the plane started heading back to the bay. “Many of us asked the cabin crew what was going on, but the responses were vague. Some people overheard the crew mentioning a technical problem. What made things worse was that we weren’t allowed to get off the plane. If we had been moved to the terminal, we would have at least been more comfortable. Some passengers even requested this, but it was ignored,” the passenger said.

IndiGo issued a statement confirming the incident. “IndiGo flight 6E-118 operating from Lucknow to Pune returned to the bay due to a technical issue. It underwent necessary maintenance and was cleared for departure after all checks were completed. IndiGo remains committed to providing safe and seamless travel to its customers,” the statement read.

The Airbus A321 eventually took off from Lucknow at 12:17 AM on Wednesday and landed in Pune at 1:54 AM.

The second flyer, expressing frustration, said that such experiences were becoming too frequent. “Airlines try to cut costs and passengers bear the brunt. Just two months ago, I had a similar situation where we sat inside a grounded plane for over an hour. We understand that technical issues happen, but making passengers—especially seniors and children—sit inside a sealed aircraft for hours is unreasonable.”
