In a city known for its fast pace and concrete sprawl, Mumbai now offers a peaceful retreat high above the ground an elevated nature trail built to immerse visitors in the calm of greenery and biodiversity. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Malabar Hill, this new ecological attraction has been developed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as a step towards promoting sustainable tourism and environmental education. Drawing inspiration from Singapore’s iconic Tree Top Walk, the project took nearly four years to shape into a reality and is now open to the public.

Where is the Elevated Nature Trail Located?

The trail gracefully stretches between two popular green spaces Kamla Nehru Park and Pherozeshah Mehta Garden both situated on Malabar Hill, a lush and serene locale in South Mumbai.

Visiting Hours and Entry Fees

The elevated pathway welcomes visitors every day from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Entry is managed through hourly slots to regulate crowd size and ensure a serene experience. Booking in advance is encouraged, and slots are made available up to 15 days ahead of time.

Entry Fee for Indian Citizens: ₹25 per person

Entry Fee for Foreign Nationals: ₹100 per person

How to Book Tickets Online

For a seamless experience, visitors can reserve their spots in advance through the official portal: https://naturetrail.mcgm.gov.in

Steps to Book:

2. Select your desired date and time slot.

3. Enter the required personal details.

4. Indicate the number of visitors joining.

5. Proceed to make the payment to confirm your booking.

Alternatively, tickets can be purchased on-site. However, due to limited capacity, only 200 visitors are permitted in each one-hour window to maintain the trail’s peaceful atmosphere. While carrying food is not allowed, visitors may bring their own water bottles.

What Makes the Trail Special?

Apart from being a first-of-its-kind initiative in the city, the elevated trail offers visitors a chance to explore Mumbai’s lesser-known ecological side. Spanning through a densely green canopy, the trail is home to over 100 plant species and serves as a habitat for a variety of birds and reptiles, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts.

Highlights along the trail include:

A birdwatching zone to observe local and migratory species

A glass-bottom viewing deck offering a unique perspective of the forest floor

A Sea Viewing Deck that provides sweeping views of the Arabian Sea

With its focus on biodiversity, thoughtful design, and cityscape views, this new attraction invites Mumbaikars and tourists alike to reconnect with nature—without leaving the city.
