In a heartbreaking incident from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, a 28-year-old man allegedly strangled his nine-month pregnant wife to death just a day before she was scheduled for delivery.

The victim, K. Anusha (27), hailed from Adduru in Anakapalle district. She and her husband, G. Gnaneshwar, had been married for two years and lived in the Madhurawada area under PM Palem police station limits.

According to the police, the couple had visited a hospital for a prenatal check-up earlier that Sunday, where doctors advised immediate admission due to the advanced stage of pregnancy. However, the two decided to wait until Monday for her admission.

Tragically, later that night, Gnaneshwar called Anusha’s friends and family, claiming she had suddenly fallen unconscious. She was rushed to a hospital in Arilova, where doctors declared her brought dead. Her body was sent to King George Hospital (KGH) for postmortem.

Police began a probe suspecting foul play. During interrogation, Gnaneshwar confessed to strangling his wife after an argument, citing repeated accusations of infidelity and emotional “torture” from Anusha as his motive.

Anusha’s family alleged past emotional manipulation by Gnaneshwar, including a previous instance where he told Anusha he had cancer in a bid to make her leave him. Despite that, she had chosen to stay with him.

While Anusha’s family was aware of the marriage, initial inquiries suggest that Gnaneshwar’s family had never fully accepted the relationship.

The PM Palem police have taken Gnaneshwar into custody and registered a case. Further investigations are underway.
