Mumbai: Man Arrested for Harassing Woman on Moving BEST Bus
A 31-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly harassing a woman on a moving Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) route, police said on Thursday. The incident took place on April 10 while the bus was traveling from Prabhadevi to Worli. According to the woman, the man, later identified as Irfan Hussain Shaikh from Bandra East, touched her inappropriately during the journey. She filed a complaint on April 16.
Soon after receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation. They reviewed CCTV footage from nearly 25 different locations — tracking where the man got on and off the bus, as well as his movements afterward. Footage from the CCTV camera inside the bus also supported the woman’s account.
Investigators eventually learned that Shaikh worked at a shipping company in Worli. He was located and taken into custody shortly after.
