A controversial clip from the OTT reality show House Arrest, hosted by former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan and streaming on the ULLU app, has triggered widespread outrage for depicting contestants enacting Kamasutra positions on camera. The video, which went viral on social media, has reignited the national debate on digital content regulation.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, who has long flagged explicit OTT content, questioned why ULLU and Alt Balaji were excluded from last year’s ban on 18 “obscene” platforms by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B). “Surprisingly two of the biggest apps were left out,” she posted, demanding accountability.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also weighed in, tagging the I&B Ministry and asserting, “This won’t be allowed. Our parliamentary committee will take action.” He urged Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to intervene and “save our children.”

The I&B Ministry had banned 18 OTT platforms in March 2023 for hosting vulgar and pornographic content, but ULLU and Alt Balaji were notably spared—raising further questions on regulatory consistency. BJP Yuva Morcha Bihar chief Barun Raj Singh echoed public sentiments, demanding the immediate removal of such content.
While the ULLU platform has not yet issued an official response, backlash continues to swell, with terms like “Ban House Arrest” trending across platforms. Critics online expressed disgust, calling the content “crass,” “degrading,” and “unfit for any audience.”
The growing uproar may prompt stricter scrutiny of OTT content standards and calls for a clearer, more consistent content regulation framework.
