Bomb Threat on IndiGo Flight at Mumbai Airport Amid Heightened Tensions Post Airstrikes

A bomb threat targeting an IndiGo flight at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport triggered a swift emergency response early Wednesday, just hours after Indian armed forces launched a series of airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The threat was made through a phone call to the airport’s Sahar control room, warning of an explosive device onboard an IndiGo aircraft. Security agencies quickly activated emergency protocols, conducting thorough inspections to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Authorities are still investigating the source and credibility of the threat.

The incident occurred shortly after India carried out “Operation Sindoor,” a coordinated military strike targeting nine terrorist infrastructure sites associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation was launched in response to the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, the Indian Army issued an official statement confirming the strike. “The Indian Armed Forces have conducted OPERATION SINDOOR, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK responsible for directing attacks against India,” the statement said.

Government sources have confirmed that Indian airspace is under increased surveillance, with aviation authorities including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) closely monitoring flight safety. The DGCA emphasized that passenger security remains the highest priority under the current national alert.
