Pune: MP Supriya Sule Demands Justice For Vaishnavi Hagavane, Urges CM, DCM To Act Promptly
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule has voiced her deep concern over the tragic death of Vaishnavi Hagavane, a young woman whose case has drawn intense public and political attention across Maharashtra. Calling the incident both heartbreaking and outrageous, Sule took to social media to denounce the violence involved and stressed the need for a transparent investigation.
In her post, Sule questioned the inhumanity of the alleged actions leading to Hagavane’s death. “It’s hard to understand how anyone can inflict such cruelty. The condition of her body raises serious doubts about whether she was murdered or pushed to suicide,” she stated.
She has appealed directly to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar to monitor the case closely and ensure justice is delivered. “It’s unacceptable that even today, women are losing their lives due to dowry-related harassment. This is a disgrace to society,” Sule added.
Reaffirming her commitment, she emphasized that anyone found responsible must face strict legal consequences, regardless of their background. “There will be no leniency,” she asserted.
The case has led to widespread protests and condemnation, with citizens, activists, and women’s rights groups demanding strong legal action and better enforcement of laws against domestic violence and dowry harassment.
Meanwhile, police officials confirmed the seizure of an SUV and a motorcycle belonging to the accused family as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspects have been produced in court and remanded to police custody until May 26. The inquiry is underway, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
