In a landmark move set to redefine consumer confidence in electric mobility, Indian EV startup Matter has introduced a lifetime battery warranty for its flagship electric motorcycle, the Aera. This unprecedented initiative, part of the brand’s new Matter Care program, is aimed squarely at one of the most common reservations faced by potential electric vehicle (EV) buyers—battery durability and the high cost of replacement.

Unlike most EV manufacturers that offer battery warranties of up to 8 years, Matter’s offering promises complete battery coverage for the full lifespan of the motorcycle. For new Aera customers, this means one thing: long-term peace of mind. Once you buy the Aera, you never have to worry about the cost or hassle of a battery replacement again.

What sets this warranty apart is the engineering foundation that supports it. Matter designs and manufactures its battery packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) entirely in-house at its Ahmedabad-based facility. This vertical integration gives the company tighter control over quality, performance, and safety—critical factors when promising a battery that will last a lifetime.

The Aera’s liquid-cooled battery system, which plays a central role in extending battery life, has been rigorously tested under various Indian weather and road conditions. From the scorching summers of Rajasthan to the monsoon-soaked roads of Kerala, the battery system is built to handle it all. Effective thermal management ensures that battery performance remains consistent, regardless of external conditions.

“Our goal was never just to sell motorcycles—it was to solve real challenges people face in transitioning to electric,” said Mohal Lalbhai, Founder and CEO of Matter. “With the lifetime battery warranty, we’re removing one of the biggest barriers to EV ownership. It’s not just a promise, it’s a commitment built on years of R&D and manufacturing excellence.”

The Aera electric motorcycle itself is no slouch in performance either. It features three customizable ride modes—Eco, City, and Sport—offering flexibility for both daily commutes and thrill rides. The bike can sprint from 0 to 40 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and delivers an impressive range of up to 125 km on a full charge. Pricing starts at ₹1.93 lakh, making it an attractive option in the growing EV two-wheeler market.

India’s electric vehicle sector is experiencing rapid growth, but concerns around battery longevity remain a stumbling block. With this move, Matter isn’t just offering a product; it’s building trust and confidence in the future of electric mobility.

In a market where consumers are still weighing the pros and cons of going electric, Matter’s lifetime battery warranty could be the game-changer the industry needs. By tackling head-on one of the most daunting financial concerns of EV ownership, the company is not just selling motorcycles—it’s paving the way for a more reliable and sustainable transportation future in India. The Aera isn’t just a bike; it’s a statement.
