Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Hit-and-Run: Speeding Car Crashes Into Bikers, Sparks Fire & Chaos; Minor Suspected Behind Wheel
A horrifying sequence of high-speed crashes unfolded in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Tuesday evening, leaving behind a scene of panic, injuries, and destruction. The hit-and-run incidents, believed to be caused by a minor behind the wheel, took place across two busy stretches—Hudco N-13 and the Himayat Bagh-Satyavishnu Hospital road—where the driver struck multiple motorcyclists, damaged public infrastructure, and escaped despite severe vehicle damage.

In the initial incident captured on nearby CCTV, a light blue Hyundai sedan is seen hurtling down a narrow stretch in Hudco N-13. The driver first loses control and hits a road barrier, before ramming into a motorcycle rider with such force that the rider was launched into the air and hit the ground hard, while the bike continued skidding forward. In a terrifying close call, three women walking from the opposite direction narrowly escaped being hit by the same bike, which passed dangerously close to them.
After hitting the motorcyclist, the car crashed directly into an electric pole, leading to visible sparks and an abrupt power outage that lasted for nearly two hours in the area. The electric pole was severely damaged, and Mahavitaran (MSEDCL) officials were deployed the next day to carry out urgent repair work. Onlookers quickly rushed to help the injured biker, who was seen visibly distressed and crying in pain on the road, while residents tried to calm him. The driver, shockingly, paused briefly at the scene—only to then reverse and flee, nearly hitting another local man who attempted to block his escape.
Just minutes later, the same car was involved in a second major collision on the Himayat Bagh-Satyavishnu Hospital road. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle rammed into a moped rider from behind, flinging him nearly 20 to 25 feet forward. Without stopping, the driver hit another biker and crashed again into another electric pole—this time with the moped trapped under the car. The impact triggered an explosion and a fire, completely engulfing the two-wheeler and causing further damage to the vehicle and the area around it.
The fire was brought under control quickly, but the damage was done. The electric infrastructure took a hit, and the pole was left bent and unstable. Meanwhile, both the motorcyclists involved in the second collision sustained leg injuries and were taken to a private hospital by local residents. Despite the severity of the crash, the victims reportedly chose not to file a complaint.
Authorities suspect that the driver may be underage, given the reckless behavior and the manner of escape. Late Tuesday night, City Chowk Police confirmed that they had registered a suo-moto case based on the CCTV footage and local accounts, and an investigation to trace the car and its owner is currently underway.
This disturbing chain of events not only exposed the dangers of underage and reckless driving but also raised serious concerns about road safety in crowded urban areas. While quick action from residents helped prevent further injuries, the incident serves as a grim reminder of how a few seconds of negligence can endanger multiple lives. Police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as efforts to bring the accused to justice continue.
