Pune: In a new twist to the ongoing controversies surrounding Shashank Hagawane—already under scrutiny in the Vaishnavi Hagawane suicide case—Pune Police have now registered a fresh case against him for allegedly providing false information while applying for a firearm license.

Hagawane had submitted an application for a gun license on October 17, 2022, claiming he had been residing for 10 years at a Karvenagar address in Pune. However, an investigation revealed the address was false, leading to charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.

The offenses include IPC Sections 177, 191, 192, 193, 417, and 420, along with Arms Act Section 30 and Arms Rules 2016 Rule 11(8). Police say Hagawane misled authorities by submitting a fake proof of address to obtain the license, which was sought for personal security reasons.

This incident adds to Hagawane’s mounting legal troubles. He is already facing charges in a JCB fraud case involving ₹11.7 lakh, and a complaint against him and his mother has been registered at Mahalunge Chakan police station. Investigations in both matters are ongoing.
