Electricity Bills Now Available In DigiLocker: MSEDCL Urges Consumers To Use Facility
In a citizen-friendly move, Mahavitaran (MSEDCL) has announced that electricity bills are now accessible through the Government of India’s DigiLocker platform, which securely stores important documents like Aadhaar cards, driving licenses, and income and caste certificates in digital form.
Lokesh Chandra, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran, urged all electricity consumers to take advantage of this convenient digital service. He stated that the initiative aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who has emphasized delivering better services to citizens under the “Ease of Living” framework through the use of advanced digital technologies.
With this new feature, consumers can view, download, print, or share their monthly electricity bills directly from the DigiLocker mobile app, just like they do with other essential documents. After linking their Mahavitaran consumer number to the app once, users will automatically receive their latest monthly bills in DigiLocker.
DigiLocker, developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India initiative, allows Indian citizens to store and access a wide range of official documents electronically. Documents stored on the platform are legally recognized as valid, equivalent to original hard copies under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
As of now, over 52.89 crore users in India have adopted DigiLocker, with 859 crore documents securely stored.
Mahavitaran’s integration with DigiLocker marks a major step in enhancing digital public utility services and making bill management easier, safer, and more efficient for consumers.
