Pune, June 17, 2025: In preparation for the annual Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, the Pune District Collector’s Office has issued a traffic regulation and diversion notification. These restrictions will be implemented across the Pune region between June 17 and June 20, 2025, to ensure smooth passage for the Warkaris and public safety.

Key Traffic Diversions and Restrictions:

  • From June 17 (12:00 PM) to June 19 (12:00 AM):
    • Several main roads and internal routes around Dehu, Alandi, Pune City, and adjoining rural zones will be closed or diverted for the Palakhi movement.
    • Heavy and light vehicle movement will be restricted on specific stretches along the Palakhi procession route.
    • Diversions will be implemented with proper signage and traffic police coordination.
  • June 18 and 19:
    • The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palakhi will proceed from Dehu to Pune, while the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi will proceed from Alandi to Pune.
    • All roads falling along these paths will be under strict traffic control with no vehicle entry allowed during the specified times.
  • From June 19 (12:01 AM) to June 20 (10:00 PM):
    • Extended traffic management will be in force on highways and rural routes as the Palakhis move toward Pandharpur.
    • Specific areas including Dive Ghat, Saswad, Jejuri, Phaltan, and Malshiras will see phase-wise restrictions to manage crowd and Warkari movements.
  • Road Safety & Crowd Management Measures:
    • The PMC and traffic department will deploy police barricadesdirectional boards, and volunteer patrols to guide pilgrims and prevent congestion.
    • Parking bansbarricading of entry points, and emergency service standby have been instructed.
  • Warning for Unauthorized Installations:
    • All unauthorized hoardings, banners, and obstructive structures on procession routes must be removed immediately.
    • Dangerous trees along the roadsides will be pruned or cut to prevent accidents.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with the administration and avoid travel through restricted zones unless absolutely necessary. Updates on live traffic and diversions will be provided by PMC and traffic police through official channels.

To ensure smooth conduct of the event and public safety, the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police have implemented the following temporary traffic diversions under the authority granted by the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Act, 1996.

    • Departure: June 19, 2025, from Alandi
    • Rest Day: June 19, 2025, in Alandi
    • Proceeding to Pune: June 20, 2025
  • Palkhi Route: Alandi → Nagar Parishad Chowk → Yogiraj Chowk → Dehu Phata → Chanholi Phata → Alankapuram Chowk → Thorlya Paduka (rest stop) → Magazine Chowk → Vitthal Rukmini Chowk → Dighi → Bopkhel Phata → Vishrantwadi (toward Pune)

  • Chakan to Alandi

    → Exit toward Chakan via Indrayani river bridge.
  2. Bharatmata Chowk → Moshi (Y-Junction to right turn)
    → One-way traffic only. No reverse entry allowed.

E. Complete Vehicle Bans on Palkhi Route (June 20, 12:01 AM onward)

  • Alandi routes: Vishrantwadi → Bopkhel → Dighi → Magazine Chowk → Alankapuram → Panjarpol Chowk
  • From Pune, Bhosari, Chakan, Chimbali toward Alandi

Heavy Vehicles from Tulapur Prohibited From Entering Alandi via Markal

Alternate: Turn right at Markal → Koyali → Shel Pimpalgaon
