Latur Incident: "Call Your Father First, You Brat!" — Traffic Cop Slaps Girls Riding Triple Seat on Road, Video Goes Viral
Latur: A video showing a traffic policewoman in Latur physically assaulting three college-going girls riding triple seat on a speeding scooter has gone viral on social media, sparking a wave of debate over law enforcement conduct and public safety.
The incident took place on one of the city’s main roads, where three girls were reportedly riding a single scooter recklessly, violating traffic norms. Pranita Musane, a constable from the Latur traffic department, noticed the traffic violation and pursued the scooter for a distance before intercepting the girls.
In the viral video, Constable Musane is seen confronting the trio with anger, asking, “Do you have a license to drive like you’re racing? Are you not worried about your life?” The situation escalated quickly, and she can be seen slapping the girls and scolding them in front of bystanders. She also allegedly used abusive language.
The constable demanded that the girls call their parents immediately. However, when they hesitated and instead pleaded for forgiveness, she reportedly got more agitated, slapping them again and continuing to berate them for their irresponsible behavior.
What Exactly Happened?
According to witnesses, the three girls were riding at high speed on a single scooter on a busy road in Latur. On-duty traffic constable Pranita Musane noticed the violation and pursued them for some time before stopping them. What followed was a public outburst, where Musane slapped and shouted at the girls in full view of the public.
The video captured on a mobile phone shows the constable not only physically assaulting the students but also questioning them harshly—asking whether their families were aware of their actions, and who would be responsible in case of an accident.
Public Reaction Mixed
The viral footage has triggered mixed reactions online. While many agreed that the girls were clearly in the wrong for violating traffic rules and risking lives, others condemned the public humiliation and physical assault, stating that taking the law into one’s own hands is equally problematic.
Critics argue that while enforcing the law is essential, it must be done within legal and ethical boundaries. Supporters of the constable, however, praised her strictness, claiming it might deter others from such dangerous behavior.
As the video continues to circulate widely, authorities may face pressure to investigate both the students’ reckless behavior and the conduct of the traffic constable.
