In a significant administrative move, the Maharashtra Home Department has reshuffled 51 IPS officers along with 81 officials from the state police service. This large-scale transfer drive has notably impacted the police leadership in key urban hubs like Mumbai, Pune, and Thane.
Among the prominent transfers, 2012-batch IPS officer Tejaswi Satpute, who previously served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) at Pune’s Weapons Inspection Branch, has now taken charge as the Commander of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) Group 1 in Pune. This move underscores the government’s trust in her capabilities to lead one of the most crucial SRPF units in the state.
Mahendra Pandit, a 2013-batch IPS officer who held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Thane, has been posted to Mumbai, marking his entry into the city’s core police framework.
Pune Police has seen additional reshuffling as DCP Smartana Patil has been transferred to the Police Training Center in Khandala, where she will now contribute to the grooming and development of future police personnel. Meanwhile, DCP (Traffic) Amol Zende, also from Pune, has been appointed as the Commander of SRPF, Daund, signaling a shift in operational responsibilities for the officer.
Another key appointment includes Tushar Patil, who was the Superintendent of Police in Kolhapur, now stepping into a new role as DCP in Mumbai. Along with him, Vijay Pawar, Sunil Lokhande, Namrata Patil, and Smita Patil have also been brought into the fold as Deputy Commissioners of Police in Mumbai.
An official from the department confirmed that five IPS officers have been promoted and stationed in Mumbai, strengthening the city’s senior police leadership and enhancing its administrative depth.
