During the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature in June 2025, Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance & Planning Minister Ajit Pawar presented supplementary demands amounting to ₹57,509.71 crore.

This additional funding will primarily be used for infrastructure projects such as roads, metro lines, and irrigation schemes; preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela; the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Health Scheme; the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Grant Scheme; scholarships for backward class students; and the welfare of disadvantaged and underprivileged communities.

Out of the total supplementary demands:

  • ₹19,183.85 crore is categorized as mandatory expenditure,
  • ₹34,661.34 crore falls under scheduled programs,
  • ₹3,664.52 crore relates to centrally sponsored schemes.

While the gross amount of supplementary demands is ₹57,509.71 crore, the actual net financial burden on the state is ₹40,644.69 crore.

Among the key allocations:

  • ₹11,042.76 crore will be spent on grants as per the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations.
  • ₹3,228.38 crore has been earmarked for metro projects and stamp duty surcharge refunds to municipal corporations, councils, and district councils.
  • ₹2,182.69 crore has been provisioned as margin money loans through the Maharashtra Government to cooperative sugar factories, with funding from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
