Pune: College Clash Over Minor Argument Turns Violent; Student In ICU After Brutal Assault By Group
Pune, July 3, 2025: A violent clash broke out among college students in Pune over a minor altercation, leaving one student critically injured. The incident occurred at a reputed college in the city, where a dispute over checking a friend’s name on the result list escalated into a brutal attack.
According to a complaint filed by Irfan Mohammad Hussain Karnoor (31), a resident of Unity Park, Maliknagar, Kondhwa, the victim—his nephew—had visited the college to check if his friend’s name was on the list. During the process, he accidentally bumped into another student, sparking a verbal spat. The argument intensified, and after stepping out of the campus, the two clashed again.
One of the accused students then called 10-15 associates, who ganged up on the complainant’s nephew and attacked him. One of them picked up a heavy metal rod (locally referred to as *vasa*) lying on the road and struck the student on the head seven to eight times. The victim collapsed, bleeding heavily and losing consciousness.
Fortunately, an elderly bystander intervened and snatched the rod away, possibly saving the student’s life. The injured student managed to call his uncle, who rushed to the spot and took him to KEM Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU, and his condition remains critical.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras within the college premises. Based on the footage, Lashkar Police have registered a case and formed a special team to identify and arrest the accused. The attack highlights growing concerns over rising student involvement in violent incidents across Pune.
