Pune News: 65-Year-Old Woman Bitten By Pet Dog In Katraj After Loud Music Dispute; Owner Booked
A 65-year-old woman sustained injuries after being bitten in the abdomen by a neighbour’s pet dog in Pune’s Katraj area. The incident took place following an argument over loud music.
The Ambegaon police have booked the dog’s owner, identified as 23-year-old Jay Bolenath Wankhede, after a complaint was filed by Rasika Vidyadhar Gadre, a resident of Santosh Nagar, Katraj.
According to police officials, the incident occurred on June 29 around 1 pm. Gadre, who lives in the housing society with her ailing mother, had approached Wankhed’s flat to request that the music volume be lowered. As she knocked on the door, Wankhed’s pet dog lunged at her and bit her in the stomach.
Gadre was rushed to a private hospital for medical care and later lodged a complaint at the Ambegaon police station.
Police said the owner was negligent in restraining the dog. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and a notice has been served to Wankhede. Police Constable Kamble is investigating the matter.
