Pune: Footpaths Restored In Kalyani Nagar, Residents Welcome Safer And Cleaner Walkways
The residents of Kalyani Nagar are breathing a sigh of relief and extending gratitude to local MLA Bapu Pathare and his team for their swift and decisive action in restoring footpaths near Suman Business Park, Gold Adlabs Chowk. This much-needed intervention has transformed a long-standing civic headache into a beacon of pedestrian safety and community well-being.
For too long, the footpaths in this bustling area had become a perilous obstacle course. Residents, particularly senior citizens, faced daily dangers from two-wheelers illegally encroaching on pedestrian paths. Adding to the woes were broken, uneven, and unhygienic walkways, making a simple stroll a risky endeavor. “It was incredibly difficult and unsafe for us to walk,” shared a long-time resident, “especially for the elderly and children. We are constantly worried about accidents.”
“Two-wheelers would aggressively ride on the footpath, and the broken, uneven tiles made it dangerous—especially during the rain. But thanks to the swift and effective action by PMC’s Manohar Mali, the footpath in front of Suman business park has now been fully repaired, cleaned, and protected with bollards. Pedestrian space is finally being respected. Walking feels safe and stress-free again. This is what responsive governance looks like—listening to citizens and acting promptly. A big thank you to the team for restoring safety and dignity to our neighborhood,” said Monica Sharma, resident of Kalyani Nagar.
Another resident Yasmin Charania said, “We appreciate Bapu Pathare ji’s efforts in solving the long standing issue of no proper footpath from Silver Oak to the Gold Adlabs Chowk. The restoration work is completed giving respite to pedestrians and give them a safe path to walk on. The bollards that were installed were very necessary to stop bikers from riding onto the footpath and causing safety concerns for the pedestrians.”
Upon hearing the community’s concerns a comprehensive restoration project has yielded remarkable results:
1) Full Reconstruction and Repair: The dilapidated footpaths have been completely reconstructed and meticulously repaired, ensuring a smooth and safe walking surface for everyone.
2) Bollard Installation: A crucial step in enhancing safety, bollards have been strategically installed to effectively prevent motorbikes from entering and endangering pedestrians on the footpaths.
3) Enhanced Hygiene and Walkability: The entire area has been thoroughly cleaned and restored, promoting a more hygienic environment and significantly improving the overall walkability for residents.
The impact of these changes is already palpable. Senior citizens, who were once confined to their homes or relied on alternative transportation due to unsafe conditions, are now enjoying their daily walks with newfound comfort and security.
The successful completion of this project stands as a testament to effective civic engagement and responsive local leadership, creating a safer and more enjoyable environment for all Kalyani Nagar residents.
