Pune: Teen, Youth Die By Suicide Near Khadakwasla Dam, Poison Bottle Found
Pune, July 11, 2025: A 16-year-old girl and a young man were found dead in a forested area near Khadakwasla Dam on Friday morning. Police believe the two consumed poison in a suspected suicide.
The girl’s family had filed a missing complaint at Wanawadi police station after she failed to return home on Thursday. During the investigation, police traced a male suspect from Karjat taluka in Ahmednagar district whose phone was switched off.
Locals discovered the bodies and alerted Uttamnagar police, who informed Wanwadi police. An empty poison container was recovered from the scene, but no suicide note was found.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and police are investigating whether family pressure, relationship issues, or other personal problems led to the incident.
The case has raised concerns about mental health support and counseling for youth in the city.
