Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch Busts Illegal LPG Refilling Racket in Hinjawadi; 148 Cylinders Seized
Pimpri Chinchwad, July 12, 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Thursday unearthed a racket involved in illegally transferring LPG from domestic cylinders to commercial ones at Sakhare Vasti in Hinjewadi.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Bhadane raided the premises and seized 148 LPG cylinders along with three vehicles, collectively valued at ₹20 lakh.
According to crime branch officials, the gang used gas refilling kits to siphon LPG from subsidised domestic cylinders into commercial cylinders, which were then sold to eateries and restaurants at inflated prices.
A case has been registered against the accused with the Hinjewadi police, and further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain and other possible accomplices.
