Instagram video highlighting Bengaluru’s infamous traffic draws both laughs and debate online

A viral Instagram post has reignited the conversation around Bengaluru’s persistent traffic woes after a user claimed that her friend had landed in Dubai while she was still stuck on the city’s congested roads. The post, shared by popular food and travel vloggers Priyanka and Indrayani, features a video showing a long, slow-moving line of vehicles, an all-too-familiar sight for the city’s residents.

The video’s text reads, “Dropped my friend at Bangalore Airport as she was leaving for Dubai. She reached Dubai, and I’m still stuck in Bangalore’s traffic.” The caption adds a relatable punch: “Based on true incidents. Tag Bangalore people.”

The clip quickly struck a chord, triggering a flood of responses from social media users who recounted similar experiences. One user wrote, “THIS HAPPENED TO ME. My parents dropped me at the airport and they reached home at the same time as I landed in Delhi.”

Another commented, “Once, while travelling from Malé, I called my friend Karthik just after completing my check-in. She started from her place around the same time. I landed in Bangalore, collected my bags, and stepped out… only to find out she was still stuck in traffic!”

Some, expressing their frustration, said they would rather walk than sit through the infamous gridlocks. One user summed up the sentiment with: “At this point, I would rather walk.”

However, the post wasn’t without criticism. Some users accused the creators of exaggerating for engagement. “To drop her friend to Dubai, which is an international flight, she should be there at least three hours before flight time. Six hours just to go from the airport to Hebbal? Ain’t no way this is real. Just engagement farming,” a skeptical commenter noted.

Despite the skepticism, the video has once again drawn attention to a longstanding civic issue in India’s tech capital, one that remains unresolved for many of its weary commuters.
