Pune: Kondhwa's Parge Nagar Residents Raise Alarm Over Safety, Traffic, Stray Dogs And Civic Neglect
Pune, July 25, 2026: Kondhwa, one of Pune’s rapidly growing suburbs, continues to grapple with a range of civic challenges, with residents of Parge Nagar voicing serious concerns over deteriorating infrastructure and public safety. Citizens say they are forced to deal with multiple unresolved issues on a daily basis despite repeated appeals to the authorities.
Residents from housing societies including Alcon Signare, Kumar Palmgrove, Nirmaan, Kumar Sublime, and several others have highlighted problems such as the increasing menace of stray dogs, illegal garbage dumping, unauthorized parking, inadequate street lighting, and persistent traffic congestion. They also alleged that unauthorized restaurants, illegal constructions, and concerns over an unauthorized school have added to the area’s civic burden.
Women’s safety has emerged as one of the biggest concerns, with residents demanding better lighting, stricter enforcement against illegal activities, and improved police patrolling. Daily traffic bottlenecks caused by haphazard parking and encroachments have further worsened commuting conditions.
Local residents have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Traffic Police to take immediate corrective measures, including removing illegal encroachments, improving waste management, installing additional streetlights, controlling the stray dog population, and streamlining traffic movement.
Residents say that without prompt intervention, the quality of life in Pagare Nagar will continue to decline, despite Kondhwa’s rapid residential growth.
