Pune, July 23, 2025: The popular Good Luck Café is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Just days after an incident where a shard of glass was found in a Bun Maska at its Fergusson Road outlet, a new controversy has surfaced—this time at its outlet along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

A customer who ordered Egg Bhurji at the highway café reportedly found a dead cockroach in his food. He shared photographs of the dish and the bill on social media, sparking widespread outrage among food lovers and raising serious questions about the hygiene standards of the café chain.

Second Incident in Weeks
This fresh controversy comes shortly after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) temporarily revoked Good Luck Café’s license for its Fergusson Road branch. The action was taken when a customer discovered a piece of glass in a Bun Maska served at the café earlier this month.

The FDA inspection revealed multiple hygiene lapses, including:

  • Staff members lacking medical fitness certificates.
  • Broken tiles in the kitchen area.
  • Stagnant water at several spots.
  • Dirty refrigerators.
  • Open garbage bins inside and outside the premises.

Though the café was permitted to reopen after addressing these issues, the new complaint at another outlet has reignited concerns about food safety across the brand.

Public Outrage Mounts
Food enthusiasts and regular patrons have expressed alarm over repeated hygiene lapses, calling for stricter monitoring of eateries operating under the same name. FDA officials are expected to investigate the latest complaint thoroughly before deciding on further action.
