Pune, July 25, 2025: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Café Goodluck and lifted the temporary suspension of its licence after a re-inspection confirmed the restaurant had rectified hygiene lapses and complied with food safety norms.

Earlier this week, the FDA had suspended the licence of the iconic eatery located in Deccan Gymkhana following a viral video that allegedly showed glass shards in a bun served at the restaurant. Prompted by the footage, FDA officials conducted an inspection and found the premises did not meet hygiene standards.

Joint Commissioner of FDA, Pune division, Suresh Annapure, said a follow-up inspection was carried out by food safety officers. “The restaurant has now met the required standards under Schedule 4 of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI),” he confirmed.

Annapure stressed the need for strict adherence to cleanliness in food establishments, highlighting proper food handler hygiene, clean utensils, and effective waste disposal as critical factors in preventing contamination.

Café Goodluck, known for its classic bun maska-chai, egg delicacies, and keema, has now resumed operations after satisfying FDA requirements.
