Ajit Pawar’s Morning Visit To Hinjawadi Spurs Crackdown On Encroachments And Infrastructure Lapses
Pune, July 26, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar conducted a surprise inspection of Hinjawadi IT Park, Mann, and Marunji areas at 6 AM today, reviewing ongoing development works. Expressing anger over unauthorized constructions, encroachments, traffic congestion, and waterlogging, Pawar reprimanded local sarpanches and developers. “While IT parks are being developed in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, issues here are tarnishing Pune’s reputation. Why do I have to inspect at 6 AM?” he questioned, ordering the administration to take strict action.
He directed authorities to crack down on illegal constructions, holding them responsible for blocked drains and severe monsoon waterlogging. This leads to significant inconvenience for IT workers and locals, as buses and vehicles wade through water-clogged roads. “You earn money, but our state suffers the blame,” Pawar said sharply to developers. He instructed immediate removal of encroachments on drains and completion of pending roadworks.
Pawar also warned sarpanches, stating, “Your governance is a mess! IT parks are moving to Bengaluru and Hyderabad while Pune risks losing its status. Don’t you care?” He asked PMRDA and MIDC to take concrete steps to improve roads, traffic management, and drainage systems, calling for a joint effort to restore Hinjewadi’s image as a global IT hub.
He also hinted at the formation of a special task force to address traffic and infrastructure challenges and confirmed that regular reviews of Hinjewadi’s development will be conducted moving forward.
