‘Does Our Life Have No Value?’: IndiGo Flight Turns Chaotic as Passengers Clash With Crew Over Delayed Take-Off(Video)
Passengers onboard an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Varanasi were left angry and anxious on Sunday night, July 27 after a technical issue delayed the take-off by over two hours, leading to chaotic scenes inside the aircraft. The delay was caused by a last-minute technical issue discovered just before departure. The situation quickly turned chaotic, with multiple passengers raising concerns about safety and demanding answers from the cabin crew.
According to reports, the IndiGo flight 6E 5028, which was scheduled to depart from Mumbai to Varanasi, was held up on the tarmac due to a technical check. As ground teams worked on fixing the issue, other flights were allowed to take off, further delaying this flight. The delay came in the wake of heightened anxiety surrounding air travel, especially after the tragic AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad last month, which killed 260 people.

As a result, tensions ran high among the 176 passengers onboard. In a video that has now gone viral on social media, passengers can be seen demanding to know why the aircraft was not taking off. One flier questioned, “Your flight has not taken off for the past hour; sounds are coming, and you are telling us that shooting a video is not allowed.” Another asked, “Does our life have no value?”
As passengers stood up and began recording videos, the cabin crew struggled to maintain order. One of the air hostesses approached the person filming and requested, “Excuse me, sir, video is not allowed, please.” But the passengers only grew more upset.
In a striking moment, an air hostess was seen folding her hands and pleading with a protesting passenger to take his seat. She told them, “All the tests on the aircraft have been completed.” However, the statement sparked further anger. One flier responded sharply, “You are running the tests after making the passengers board the plane? What if something happens in the air? Who will take that risk?”
Another passenger voiced frustration at the lack of alternatives. “You guys expect us to cooperate with you. You guys should also cooperate with us. Arrange an alternate solution,” he said.
Pilot Assures Safety
Eventually, the woman pilot of the flight, Captain Urvashi, stepped out of the cockpit to address the upset passengers directly. She asked them to sit and offered to clarify any doubts. “Let’s talk, but please sit down. We will not close the door till you are satisfied, but please sit down,” she said.
In another video, the pilot calmly assured passengers that the delay was necessary for their safety. “We are ready for takeoff in 10 minutes. If you do not resort to chaos, I guarantee you we will all reach Varanasi,” she told them. As passengers began chanting “Har Har Mahadev,” the pilot joined in, trying to ease the tension. “Let’s have a good flight and be positive. You have to trust me that if there was any issue, I would not fly this plane. The aircraft is fit to fly. Let us all reach Varanasi safely, happily, and nicely. Please don’t worry,” she added.
According to flight tracker Flightradar24, the flight finally took off at 9:53 pm, over two hours after its scheduled departure, and landed in Varanasi at 11:40 pm.
