Pune, July 29, 2025: Along with honoring soldiers, it is equally important to provide their families with accurate, timely, and free legal assistance. The Legal Aid Clinic is a concrete step in this direction and stands as an excellent example of coordination between administration, judiciary, and social responsibility, said Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar.

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the NALSA Veer Pariwar Sahayata Yojana 2025 and a new Legal Aid Center were jointly inaugurated on Monday (July 28) at the Soldiers Welfare Department in Ghorpadi, Pune. The initiative is a collaboration between the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, and the Maharashtra State Soldiers Welfare Department. The event was graced by Principal District and Sessions Judge Mahendra K. Mahajan, Director of Soldiers Welfare (Retd. Colonel) Deepak Thonge, and DLSA Secretary Sonal Patil.

Judge Mahajan highlighted that nearly 50% of citizens are unaware of legal aid and government schemes, with families of army personnel being among them. This legal aid center is a historic opportunity for them. “Our soldiers never back down in any situation and always stand for the nation. True justice means not only repaying their patriotism but also safeguarding their families,” he stated.

Sonal Patil emphasized that while soldiers sacrifice their lives for the nation, their families continue to fight for justice. “It is our moral and social responsibility to support them in their legal battles,” she added.
