A shocking incident unfolded at Mumbai’s Borivali railway station on August 2, when a man became violent and destroyed property inside the ticket inspector’s office after being asked to get off a train. The man, who was travelling without a valid ticket, was part of a group of four passengers who were caught on a Dadar-Virar local train.

The group had boarded the first-class coach, even though three of them had only second-class tickets. One of them did not have any ticket at all for the journey from Andheri to Borivali. As per railway rules, all four were asked to deboard at Borivali station and taken to the Ticket Collector’s (TC) office for further checking.

Violent Reaction Inside the Office

While the other passengers stayed calm, one man became extremely aggressive once inside the office. A video of the incident, which later went viral, shows him shouting at officials and throwing things. The man, dressed in a yellow kurta, stormed into the ticket inspector’s office, screaming and hurling abuses. He damaged computer monitors, keyboards, CPUs, and other government equipment while the railway staff tried to control him.

He also attacked a railway employee during the chaos. Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector Shamsher Ibrahim got injured during the scuffle. The man himself was seen bleeding in the video. Both the staff member and the man received medical help after the incident.

The video also shows a woman, who seemed to be travelling with the man, getting scared and crying uncontrollably. At one point, it appeared she had a panic attack. While the man tried to calm her for a moment, he quickly went back to damaging the office.

In the middle of the chaos, he shouted at others in the room and even threatened people who were recording the incident. He told the staff, “You just take my name in Dharavi; everyone knows me,” and claimed he would file a complaint. He also asked someone to record the scene on their iPhone.

Police action and a legal case

Once the situation was under control, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) handed the man and other passengers over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further action. Legal proceedings have now begun. The incident has raised serious concerns over the safety of railway staff and the growing number of violent cases on public transport.
