Pimpri Schools Face Crisis: MNS Protests Over Vacant Principal Posts, Students And Teachers Struggling
Pimpri – Many students, parents, and teachers are facing difficulties because 50 schools under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have no principals. In protest, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) organized a unique demonstration on Friday (August 1) at the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Primary School in Sangvi.
For the past three months, this school has been without a principal. To bring attention to the issue, MNS members placed a garland on the empty principal’s chair. The protest was led by MNS leaders Raju Sawale, Alexander Appa Moses, Mangesh Bhalekar, and Vishal Patil.
During the protest, the MNS submitted a letter to PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh, warning that if the positions were not filled within seven days, they would hold another protest at his office. The MNS said that the lack of principals is causing problems for everyone in the schools.
Raju Sawale and Alexander Appa Moses questioned, “Who should parents go to with complaints? Where can students share their problems? Who will listen to teachers?” They also mentioned that some schools are missing art teachers.
Sangeeta Bangar, from the PCMC Education Department, responded by saying that only 5-6 schools have principal vacancies, not 50. She added that some senior teachers are temporarily filling the roles and the recruitment process is ongoing.
However, the protesters believe that the absence of principals in the schools is a serious issue that needs immediate action.
