Pune, August 9, 2025 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to prepare a long-term Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) for Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, ensuring coordination between all concerned departments. The plan will focus on creating an integrated blueprint that includes grade separators, ring roads, and tunnel projects, with a vision extending over the next three decades to address traffic congestion.

Speaking at the ‘Pune City Comprehensive Mobility Plan’ presentation organised by Maha-Metro at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration, Fadnavis said the CMP involves an estimated investment of ₹1.3 lakh crore, with ₹62,000 crore allocated for the first phase. The initial goal is to raise public transport usage to 30%, eventually reaching 50%, with services accessible within 500 metres of every resident.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar suggested extending the proposed Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor Metro line to Uruli Kanchan, given population growth along the Pune–Solapur highway. The revised CMP, updated from its 2018 version, now factors in projections up to 2054, covering metro expansion, PMPML upgrades, cycling networks, ring road links, logistics hubs, and Purandar airport connectivity.
