Teen Missing Since 2017 Found by Beed Police, Reunited with Family in Pune – Watch Video
In a remarkable turn of events, a young man who vanished as a teenager in 2017 has finally been reunited with his family, thanks to the determined efforts of the Beed district police in Maharashtra. The emotional reunion took place at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Pune, bringing closure to a painful chapter in the life of his family.
Raju Kakasaheb Mali, who was just 16 years old when he disappeared, had been a student of Class 10 at Sangameshwar Vidyalaya in Nalwandi. One day in December 2017, he left for school like any other day but never returned home. At the time, his parents were working as sugarcane labourers in Karnataka. Due to their illiteracy and limited resources, they did not file a police complaint, leaving Raju’s whereabouts a mystery for years.
It wasn’t until 2023 — six years after his disappearance — that his mother approached the Pimpalner police station in Beed and lodged a missing person complaint, finally setting the wheels of investigation in motion.
The case was led by Sub-Inspector Pallavi Jadhav, who took a deep and compassionate approach to uncovering Raju’s story. “During our investigation, we discovered that Raju had been staying at a teacher’s house after he went missing,” she explained. Jadhav’s search led her to interact extensively with Raju’s parents, former school friends, and even the teacher in question.
Realising the complexity of the case, Jadhav brought the matter to the attention of Superintendent of Police Navneet Kavat. Under his guidance, the district police harnessed technical intelligence to track down Raju, who was eventually located in Pune.
The culmination of this extensive effort was a heartfelt reunion at the SP’s office, where Raju was finally brought back into the arms of his family after more than seven years apart.
