Mumbai-Dighi And Mumbai-Kashid Ro-Ro Services To Begin By March 2026, Says Minister Nitesh Rane
Mumbai, August 13, 2025: The Mumbai-Dighi and Mumbai-Kashid Ro-Ro ferry services, expected to make travel between Mumbai and the Konkan region more convenient, will be operational by the end of March 2026, announced Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane.
The directive was issued during a meeting held at the Mantralaya, attended by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Maharashtra Maritime Board CEO P. Pradeep, and other officials.
Rane instructed that construction work on the jetties at both Dighi and Kashid be expedited. He emphasized that the Ro-Ro service would serve as an excellent travel option for those heading from Mumbai to Konkan, saving significant travel time. He further directed that while jetty construction is ongoing, proposals for other required permissions should be submitted for approval to ensure timely completion.
Rane set a deadline for all related works to be finished by March 2026.
During the same meeting, attended by MLA Mahesh Baldi, discussions were also held regarding diesel subsidies for fishing boats. Rane assured that no eligible fishing vessel would be deprived of the subsidy and instructed fishing cooperatives to make their boats available for inspection by the Fisheries Department. He urged that a satisfactory resolution be reached on the matter for the benefit of fishermen.
