Padma Awards 2026: President Murmu Honours Mammootty, Alka Yagnik and Rohit Sharma
24 June, 2026: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conferred 65 Padma Awards during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The awards recognised individuals from various fields, including arts, sports, public affairs, medicine, literature and social service.
The ceremony saw the presentation of two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan and 56 Padma Shri awards. Several well-known personalities were among the recipients, including veteran actor Mammootty, celebrated playback singer Alka Yagnik, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and actor R Madhavan.

Mammootty and Alka Yagnik were honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award. Other Padma Bhushan recipients included advertising veteran Piyush Pandey, industrialist Uday Kotak, tennis icon Vijay Amritraj and several distinguished contributors from different sectors.
Among the Padma Shri awardees were Rohit Sharma, actor R Madhavan, Indian women’s cricket star Harmanpreet Kaur, hockey player Savita Punia, actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and numerous individuals recognised for their exceptional service and achievements.
One of the award recipients, Dr Padma Gurmet, who was honoured for his efforts in preserving and promoting the traditional Himalayan medical system of Sowa-Rigpa, expressed gratitude after receiving the award. He said the recognition was not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for the Sowa-Rigpa community and the people of Ladakh.

The first Civil Investiture Ceremony was held on May 26, during which President Murmu presented 66 Padma Awards. With the completion of the second ceremony, the government has honoured a large number of recipients announced for this year’s Padma Awards.
