Pune City To Host Astronomical Exhibition On Saturn At Yashwantrao Chavan Art Gallery
Pune, August 18, 2025: Astronomy enthusiasts in the city will get an opportunity to delve into the wonders of Saturn as Jyotirvidya Parisanstha has organised an astronomical exhibition titled “Exploring Saturn: The Ringed Wonder”. The exhibition will be held from August 21 to 24, 2025, between 10 AM and 8 PM at the Yashwantrao Chavan Theatre Art Gallery, Kothrud.
The exhibition aims to showcase humanity’s ongoing efforts to study Saturn — the sixth planet from the Sun and the second-largest in the solar system. Known for its spectacular and complex ring system made up of countless particles of ice and rock, Saturn has fascinated scientists and sky watchers for centuries.
Visitors will learn about the planet’s composition, its striking yellow-brown hue caused by ammonia crystals in its atmosphere, and its many moons — including Titan, which is larger than Mercury. Exhibits will trace Saturn’s exploration journey, from early telescopic observations to advanced space missions, highlighting discoveries such as water jets on Enceladus and methane lakes on Titan.
Key attractions will include detailed models of Saturn, demonstrations of its retrograde motion, and insights into various space missions undertaken to study the planet. Information will be presented through interactive models and posters, making the exhibition engaging for students, researchers, and the general public.
The organisers have invited citizens to attend and experience the mysteries of the ringed planet up close. Entry will be open to all from 10 AM to 8 PM during the four-day event.
