Pune: FITE Files Complaint Against IT Firm Over Alleged Fraud On 300 Freshers, Police Probe On
Pune: The Hinjewadi police have begun an inquiry into a complaint filed by the Forum for IT Employees (FITE)–Maharashtra on behalf of around 300 IT freshers, alleging financial fraud by an IT company under the guise of training and placement. The forum has also approached the deputy labour commissioner, seeking an inquiry into what it described as “unfair labour practices” by the company.
FITE, in its letter to the deputy labour commissioner, alleged that the affected freshers have not received salaries for the past four to six months, causing financial hardship. The letter also mentioned that candidates were charged between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 4 lakh as fees in exchange for promises of training, stipend, and assured placement.
According to the complaint, while the company did provide two months of training and a short-term stipend, no job placement or project allocation followed. The forum alleged that the company failed to honor its commitments, leaving hundreds of freshers stranded without employment or financial support.
FITE has sought immediate intervention by the labour department, urging officials to assign a labour officer to visit the company premises and conduct a detailed investigation.
On Monday, FITE representatives led by Prashant Pandit, secretary along with over 30 candidates, met labour officials in Pune to press for action.
