Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express to Operate with 16 Coaches for Festive Season
Mumbai, August 2025: To cater to the increased passenger demand during the festive season, Central Railway has announced the temporary augmentation of the Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon–Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express.
The premium train, which usually operates with eight coaches, will run with 16 coaches on select dates to ensure more seating capacity and improved travel convenience.
As per the schedule, Train No. 22229 Mumbai CSMT–Madgaon Vande Bharat Express will run with 16 coaches on August 25, 27 and 29, 2025. In the return direction, Train No. 22230 Madgaon–Mumbai CSMT Vande Bharat Express will operate with 16 coaches on August 26, 28 and 30, 2025.
The decision aims to accommodate the surge in bookings and provide passengers with a comfortable and hassle-free travel experience. Rail authorities have advised travellers to take note of this temporary coach augmentation and plan their journeys accordingly.
This move is expected to significantly reduce the festive rush and ensure smooth operations on one of the most popular routes connecting Maharashtra and Goa. Passengers are encouraged to book their tickets in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
