Pune Police Announce Traffic Diversions, Parking Areas For Ganeshotsav 2025
Pune, August 25, 2025 – Ahead of the ten-day Ganeshotsav celebrations beginning on Wednesday, August 27, Pune Police have announced an extensive traffic and transport management plan to ensure smooth movement and public safety. The measures, including road closures, diversions, parking arrangements, and changes to bus routes, will remain in effect until October 6.
Traffic Diversions and Road Closures
Key roads will experience restrictions to reduce congestion near popular Ganesh mandals:
- Shivaji Road will remain closed from Gadital Putla Chowk to Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk.
- Jangali Maharaj Road commuters heading to Swargate must turn left at SG Barve Chowk.
- Alternate routes include Khude Chowk–Mangla Talkies–Kumbharves Chowk and Premier Garage Chowk–Shivaji Bridge–Gadital Putla Chowk–Kumbharves Chowk.
- Additional closures include Phadke Houd Chowk to Futka Buruj, Appa Balwant Chowk to Moti Chowk, and Mangla Talkies to Kumbharves Chowk.
Parking and Public Transport Changes
- Designated parking zones are created near Mitramandal Chowk to Patil Plaza, Jamnalal Bajaj Putla to Puram Chowk, and Neelayam Bridge to Sinhgad Road junction.
- Special parking for idol shopping and transport will be available at Kamgar Putala Chowk, PMC Bill Centre, and Tilak Bridge.
- PMPML bus routes will be diverted to avoid congested stretches, with new routes via SG Barve Chowk, Jangali Maharaj Road, Alka Talkies Chowk, and Tilak Road.
Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles
Heavy vehicle movement will be prohibited on several key roads, including Shastri Road, Tilak Road, and Laxmi Road, to ensure pedestrian safety and smooth traffic flow.
Authorities have urged citizens to follow traffic advisories and plan their travel accordingly to ensure a safe and seamless celebration of Ganeshotsav 2025.
