Seagulls are known for stealing food and creating trouble, but sometimes their behavior shocks the internet in unexpected ways. Over the years, these birds have gone viral for their unusual actions. In 2019, a video captured on Skomer Island, Wales, stunned viewers when it showed a seagull swallowing a live rabbit whole. That same video has been resurfacing online every year since, leaving social media users shocked all over again.

The footage shows a great black-backed gull, the largest gull species in the world, pulling a wild rabbit out of its burrow. The bird grabs the rabbit by the head, lifts it up, and within seconds swallows the animal whole. After the shocking meal, the gull appears unsteady for a moment but soon recovers.
The video was filmed on Skomer Island, a remote nature reserve in Wales managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. At the time, the clip gained widespread attention and continues to resurface online, sparking debates and reactions every time it goes viral.
While the sight is disturbing to many, experts have clarified that this is not unusual behavior for the great black-backed gull.
