Temporary Traffic Diversions Announced In Pune District Ahead Of Maratha Community March Between August 27–29

Pune: Road Closure At Dive Ghat On September 12, Alternative Routes Announced
Pune, August 26, 2025 – Temporary traffic regulations have been issued across Pune district in view of a massive march organised by the Maratha community to demand reservation. The march will commence on August 27 from Ahilyanagar, proceed via Alephata–Otūr–Bankar Phata, and reach Shivneri Fort. On August 28, it will continue from Shivneri Fort via Narayangaon–Manchar–Khed–Chakan–Talegaon to Lonavala, finally heading towards Mumbai.
To prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth law and order during this large gathering, District Collector and District Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has issued orders under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and as per the Home Department notification dated May 19, 1990, implementing diversions and alternate routes from 10 PM on August 27 until midnight of August 29, 2025.
Key Diversions:
- Traffic on Nagar-Kalyan Road from Jambut Phata No. 14 towards Nagar will be diverted via Bor–Belhe–Alkuti–Parner–Ahilyanagar.
- Vehicles from Narayangaon to Junnar will be diverted via Ozar Phata–Karkhana Phata–Shiroli Budruk route.
- Vehicles from Narayangaon to Pune will take Narayangaon Bypass–Kar Phata–Manchar Police Station–Nagapur–Rodewadi Phata–Loni–Pabal–Shikrapur–Nagar Road–Pune route.
- March route traffic from Narayangaon to Manchar via Bypass No. 60 will be diverted via Jivan Khind–Manchar city–Avasari Phata–Jivan Khind–Nandi Chowk.
- Vehicles from Khed city to Pune will travel via Pabal.
- Old Pune-Mumbai Highway (No. 48) traffic will be diverted to the new Pune-Mumbai Expressway. Vehicles from Chakan–Dehu Road to Mumbai will be rerouted via Vadgaon Phata–Urse Toll Plaza–Mumbai.
- Vehicles from Mumbai to Pune will continue on the expressway without diverting to Lonavala city at Valvan exit. Similarly, traffic from old Mumbai-Pune route will bypass Khandala and Valvan exits.
- Vehicles within Lonavala city heading towards Pune or Mumbai will be diverted to the expressway via Valvan bridge.
These regulations will be in effect from August 27, 10:00 PM to August 29, 12:00 midnight.
