In a major step towards strengthening digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery, the Mahasarathi (Family ID) credential has now been integrated with DigiLocker, the Government of India’s flagship digital document wallet under the Digital India programme. With this integration, nearly 14 crore residents of Maharashtra can securely access, store and share their Mahasarathi (Family ID) digitally anytime, anywhere.

The integration enables seamless two-way functionality between Mahasarathi and DigiLocker. Citizens who already possess a Mahasarathi (Family ID) can fetch and store the credential in their DigiLocker account. In addition, DigiLocker is now integrated as a requestor platform with Mahasarathi, allowing eligible residents to enroll for a new Family ID digitally and provide consent directly through the application.

The Mahasarathi (Family ID) serves as Maharashtra’s foundational household identifier and plays a critical role in enabling access to government services, welfare schemes and citizen benefits. Its availability on DigiLocker will further promote paperless governance, reduce dependence on physical documents and simplify service delivery for citizens.

2.    Navigate to “Issued Documents” or search for “Mahasarathi / Family ID Maharashtra”.
3.    Enter the required details and provide consent.
4.    Fetch the credential, which will be instantly issued and securely stored in the DigiLocker account.

Key Benefits for Citizens
•    Access to a legally valid digital credential issued directly by the source authority.
•    Instant verification and secure digital sharing whenever required.
•    Faster and more seamless access to citizen-centric services and government welfare schemes.
•    Convenient management of household-related information for applications and service delivery through the Aaple Sarkar platform.

The integration marks another milestone in government’s efforts to leverage digital public infrastructure for efficient governance. By enabling secure, consent-based access to trusted digital credentials, the initiative advances the vision of Digital India and supports the creation of a transparent, efficient and digitally empowered governance framework.
