Pune, June 17, 2026: In a major crackdown on human trafficking and illegal prostitution, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pune Crime Branch rescued three women, including a foreign national, during coordinated raids conducted in the Shivajinagar area.

According to police, acting on confidential information received on June 16, officials learned that women were allegedly being forced into prostitution at a hotel near Akashvani Chowk. After verifying the information through a decoy customer, a special team led by Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse conducted a raid at The Centurion Hotel and rescued one woman from the premises.

During the subsequent investigation, police discovered that two more women were allegedly being kept at another hotel, Treebo Sahara, for the same purpose. A follow-up operation was immediately launched, leading to the rescue of both women, including a foreign citizen.

Police have registered a case against two agents accused of operating and facilitating the prostitution racket. The accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tejaswi Satpute, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gaurav Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumbhar, and Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify additional individuals involved in the trafficking network and determine the extent of the operation.
