Pune: Wanowrie Police Arrest Domestic Help Within 24 Hours For Stealing Gold Items Worth ₹5.87 Lakh From Retired Wing Commander’s Home
Pune, August 29, 2025: A domestic help was arrested within 24 hours for stealing gold jewellery worth ₹5,87,050 from the residence of retired Wing Commander Satish Makashir and his wife Nisha Makashir at Sopan Baug, Wanawadi.
Earlier this afternoon, the elderly couple, visibly distressed, approached Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane of Wanawadi Police Station, reporting that their lifelong savings in the form of gold jewellery had been stolen. Adamane reassured them, registered the case, and immediately assigned a special investigation team.
Upon investigation, suspicion fell on two female domestic workers employed at the residence. Police discovered that one of them, Sudha Rajesh Chougule, residing on B.T. Kawade Road, was attempting to pawn the jewellery at a jeweller’s shop. She was promptly taken into custody, and the stolen jewellery was recovered.
Senior Police Inspector Adamane confirmed that the accused has been produced in court.
The swift operation was conducted by the investigation team led by Police Inspector (Crime) Vijaykumar Doke, with API Umakant Mahadik and other officials including Daya Shegar, Mahesh Gadhave, Amol Pilane, Atul Gaikwad, Vishnu Sutar, Gopal Madane, Abhijit Chavan, Amol Gaikwad, Arshad Sayyed, Vitthal Chormale, Yatin Bhosale, Balaji Waghmare, Ashish Kamble, and women constables Shaila Thengal and Pushpa Borkar.
