Pune Crime: Police Encounter Leaves Notorious Satara Criminal Dead After Attack on Officers
Pune, August 30, 2025 – A dramatic encounter unfolded on Saturday evening near Malthan Phata in Shikrapur, Shirur taluka, when a wanted criminal attacked a police team with a knife during an arrest attempt. In retaliation, police opened fire, resulting in the suspect’s death and creating a stir in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Lakhan Popat Bhosale, a resident of Vadgaon Pusavle, Satara, who was facing serious criminal charges registered at Satara police station.
Incident Details
A police team led by Assistant Police Inspector Shamrao Kale and Police Constable Sujit Bhosale had reached Shikrapur to apprehend the accused. Around 7:30 p.m., when officers attempted to arrest him, the suspect suddenly attacked Constable Sujit Bhosale with a knife.
In self-defence, police fired at the assailant, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Police Investigation
Following the incident, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prashant Dhole and Shikrapur Police Inspector Dipratan Gaikwad visited the scene. The process of registering an FIR at Shikrapur police station continued late into the night.
