Pune: Lamp Falls On Ganpati Decoration, Sparks Fire In Flat; 70-Year-Old Woman Rescued
Pune, September 3, 2025 – A fire broke out late on Tuesday night at Sundar Sanskruti Society, Canal Road, in a tenth-floor flat of building D2/1003. The incident occurred around 9.18 pm when a decorative lamp reportedly fell on Ganpati festival decorations in the hall, sparking the blaze.
According to officials, the fire brigade team received the alert and reached the spot by 10.02 pm. By the time the fire personnel arrived, local residents had already acted swiftly to rescue a 70-year-old woman, identified as Kumud Barsawale, who was inside the flat. She was brought out unharmed.
Residents also managed to control the flames using the building’s fixed fire-fighting system before the situation worsened. Firefighters later carried out cooling operations to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and no further risk remained.
Driver Naresh Pangare and firemen B Gogavale, Nitin Bhovad, and Akash Shinde were part of the team deployed to the site.
Officials confirmed that no casualties or major property loss occurred, and necessary safety instructions were provided to the flat owners before the fire brigade team left the premises.
The timely response by residents and fire personnel prevented a major tragedy.
